Term 1 2024 school year is here! We are so excited to be working with you, our brilliant members. You put the sparkle in our day! We have lots of great opportunities for you, including workshops, artist talks, volunteer roles and diverse ways to connect through online PD. We're building on our successful programs of 2023 and adding a few new and incredible opportunities in metro and the regions.
Here is a calendar snapshot of this term, with all the details below.

  • 20th Feb: In the studio: Larissa Warren Part II, on-line.
  • 24th Feb: Back by popular demand! Metro inreach: Vanghoua Anthony Vue workshop, Corinda SHS
  • Regional Cluster events - connect with what is happening in your regions through our website, email and cluster group posts.
  • As always many, many, many social media posts on QATA Facebook and Instagram, including many, many, many members supporting one another with answers to questions, suggestions and tips and tricks, particularly through Facebook.

Annual General Meeting and Artist Talk

Our Annual General Meeting and Artist talk is 12 pm, 11th Feb 2024, hosted by QUT Museum.
All are welcome!
Join us for the QATA 2024 AGM at Old Government House, QUT Gardens Point. Directly after the AGM we have the pleasure of an artist’s talk and tour of Pat Hoffie’s exhibition This Mess We’re In at QUT Art Museum. If you can't be here in-person you will be able to join us on-line for the AGM.
At the AGM all executive positions will be declared vacant. We always love to see new faces and welcome our regulars. Be sure to nominate if you would like to be more involved through an official QATA position.
Refreshment will be provided for our AGM. If you wish to attend, please register via our website.
Please note: You do not have to nominate for a position to attend the AGM.

In the Studio- Larissa Warren Part II

Join us for the QATA Term 1 In the Studio online event with artist Larissa Warren: Clay to ceramic 101. A must for beginner art teachers, teachers considering introducing clay into their art department and anyone wanting a refresher or some new tips.
We ran out of time last year as Larissa has so much knowledge to share. We’re excited to continue with Part II of this In the Studio event, focusing on kilns and firing processes, another hand-building workshop and plenty of other useful tips for working with clay in the classroom. Come along and get ready to ask some questions.

Back by Popular demand: Regional outreach

Get set cluster creatives! After rave reviews at QATACON23 Vanghoua Anthony Vue could be at your school in Term 2, 2024 with his workshop, travel and accommodation subsidised by QATA. Workshops will explore his tape-affiti and ornamental assemblages and the host school/s will also have the opportunity to have a collaborative artwork created with Anthony Vue and installed on site.
Apply now by describing in 200 words or less how this workshop would benefit your cluster. Applications close 4pm Friday 23rd February 2024.

From 5.30pm Thursday 11th July through Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th July.

We are already making plans for QATACON24: Create the Future and will post updates on our website regularly. Pop this in the PD calendar for yet another incredible conference. Did you know it is the biggest state art teacher association conference in Australia?
