The Institute of Modern Art and Queensland Art Gallery|Gallery of Modern Art are again joining forces to present Art Teachers Day. This year, the day will run with additional partners: Artisan, Flying Arts, Queensland Art Teachers Association, QUT Art Museum, and UQ Art Museum.

Art Teachers Day is an opportunity for Queensland’s secondary-school art teachers to connect with developments in contemporary art, to engage in workshops, to meet colleagues, and to preview education opportunities offered by key Brisbane museums and agencies. For teachers, it’s a fun way to meet annual professional-development requirements.

This year, the Day starts at GOMA, with star artists Richard Bell and Justene Williams talking about their work, Brisbane art museums spruiking highlights from their 2014 programs, and QAGOMA’s Curator of Contemporary Asian Art, Reuben Keehan, profiling their upcoming exhibition Cai Guo-Qiang: Falling Back to Earth.

This will be followed by a viewing of the stunning show California Design  1930–65:  Living  in  a  Modern  Way at QAG. Then, you will bus to IMA for lunch in the Simon Starling show In Speculum, followed by workshops on the Australian arts curriculum (with Flying Arts), on making your own font (with Artisan), and scratch-film making (with the Institute of Modern Art).

We finish over the road, with drinks at Artisan, in Hightide, the Queensland design show.
