In the Studio - Dominique Chen & Libby Harward
Join us for the QATA Term 3 In the Studio online event with artists Dominique Chen & Libby Harward.
WEDNESDAY| August 30
4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
Dom & Libby will facilitate some guided provocations for teachers to connect/consider/critique the space they are in (class room/home/office etc.), and use the signs/signifiers of the space to re-make or re-sign texts and objects that spark critical conversation.
A descendant of the Ngugi people of Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) in the Quandamooka, Libby Harward creates artworks that break through the colonial overlay to connect with the cultural landscape, which always was, and always will be here. Her political practice, in a range of genres, continues this decolonising process. Libby describes her practice as a process of simultaneously listening, calling out to, knowing and understanding Country.
Dominique Chen is a Gamilaroi woman, and interdisciplinary artist and researcher, living on Yinibara Country in South East Queensland. She lectures within the Bachelor of Contemporary Australian Indigenous Art, Griffith University, and is undertaking PhD research at the University of Technology Sydney, in the area of relational creative practice and urban-based Aboriginal food and medicine growing
