Gordon Hookey: A MURRIALITY
Friday, 21 October, 6.00PM–8.00PM
Celebrate the opening of renowned Waanyi artist Gordon Hookey‘s first survey show, A MURRIALITY.
Hookey‘s work is best known for its vibrant imagery, biting political satire, and witty critique of racism. A MURRIALITY addresses historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples through the lens of Hookey’s lived experience as a Murri person.
Co-commissioned with UNSW Galleries, Sydney, the exhibition features a significant new commission that draws inspiration from Hookey’s vast collection of political posters and continues his acclaimed series of protest banners.
Join us in celebrating this monumental exhibition spanning three decades of Hookey’s bold and iconic work.
